The grass family (Poaceae) consists of approx. 10,000 genera with 650 grass species.
Many of the grasses belong to the oldest useful plants we know.
Cereals such as wheat, rye, barley, oats, millet, corn and rice are included in these utility plants.
Many species are annuals and live through their entire life cycle in a single season. They often live only a few months and survive the unfavorable season as seeds in the soil, after which they re-germinate and the cycle begins again.
